Romance On the River
If you take a boat from Sathorn Pier and pass by Ratchawong Pier, you can’t miss the five-storey crimson building dominating the bank of the Chao Phaya River.
The block of land on which the hotel was built has a long history, dating back to the time of King Rama V. The first owner of the land was Amdaeng Klee, after whom the hotel was named. The hotel is well-hidden and guests will have to walk through the surrounding community before reaching it. On the first floor, the lobby and “Nye” restaurant are strikingly painted in blue hues; distinguishing them from the other areas of the hotel.
The ten retro style guest rooms are divided into River Suite, River Side Grand Deluxe and Deluxe Riverview types. Each room is decorated in a different style; some with a mural telling stories of Bangkok, some with a big retro mirror. They all have in common a boldness of design, especially the bathrooms, which have only a perforated, white cloth curtain separating them from the bedroom. As a result, Amdaeng is dubbed the most romantic hotel in Bangkok. Adding a further romantic touch, each room’s balcony affords a panoramic view over the Chao Phraya River with its glittering lights.
The tiled rooftop is designed to provide a full river view and the bar and metal framed roof are designed to resemble a pagoda with outstanding features. It’s the perfect spot to spend a tranquil evening with a drink and soak up the timeless atmosphere.
