One of the best outings to celebrate this festive season in the vibrant city of Bangkok has to be dinner at Bangkok Balcony. The highest open-air restaurant in Thailand - ranked among the top rooftop restaurants in Bangkok - provides not only a gastronomic experience but also a spectacular all-round view of Bangkok from the 81th floor of Baiyoke Sky Hotel.
Even though it seems a new skyscraper pops up every day in Bangkok, Baiyoke Sky Hotel has kept the title of tallest hotel in Bangkok, and the open-air dining area is the city’s highest rooftop restaurant. The seating allows patrons to gaze out over the metropolis, and look down at the web of roads, streets and lanes, the spectacular sweeping curves of the Chao Phaya River and the temple rooftops glinting in the sunlight. On a clear day, you can see as far as the Gulf of Thailand and Khao Khiew in Chonburi.
The more private open-air dining areas are situated at the four corners and named after each direction, North Balcony, South Balcony, East Balcony and West Balcony, with 20 seats in each. These areas can also be arranged for private parties. The indoor area is glass-walled and spacious enough to comfortably accommodate 180 diners.
The food is buffet style, featuring grills and a big variety of international seafood dishes prepared with premium raw ingredients, such as Australian lamb and beef sirloin, New Zealand mussels, sushi, sashimi, Parma ham, cocktail prawns, salmon and other types of seafood and, of course, Thai and western desserts and fruits.
If you reserve a seat in the open-air area you will be treated with an extra menu on top of the regular buffet items. You can choose from the following list:
Cold Appetizers: Roast Beef, Liver Pâté, Leg Ham, Parma Ham or Drunken Chicken.
Hot Appetizers: Prawn with Italian Sauce, Scallop with Cafe De Paris Sauce, or Norwegian Salmon with Passion Fruit Sauce
Four-dish set: Baked Rice with Crab, Steamed Rice with Seafood & Chilli Fish Sauce, Spaghetti Carbonara or Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce.
