The Journey back with Thai authentic recipes
Siam Spring Bistro at Tha Tien is another outlet of Siam Spring Restaurant and appears to have more retro ambience than its predecessor. The building retains its original yellow-colored walls and the interior is adorned with antiques and flower arrangements giving a fresh and pleasant atmosphere.
The chef manages to maintain the authenticity of the recipes some of which are rarely known. We start from goong talai; each prawn, in the set of five, is arranged beautifully in a cocktail glass seasoned with a Thai-style sauce that is sweetish, sour and slightly hot. Nam prik lon pu, a spicy dip that incorporates chunky pieces of crab meat served with a platter of intricately carved fresh vegetables. Phad mee kati is one of the dishes that follows royal kitchen recipes; this stir-fry rice vermicelli has a pleasant and balanced sour and sweet flavors. It is served in a big woven tray. For herbal drinks, iced butterfly pea and lime is refreshing; coconut smoothie is invigorating with full-bodied flavor and a creamy aroma of coconut.
