Commemorate Singapore’s bicentennial year with
Singapore river festival 2019
The fifth edition of the festival returns with two months of exciting events and activities along Robertson Quay, Clarke Quay and Boat Quay
Singapore River Festival (SRF) 2019 makes its return for its fifth year with four different jam-packed weekends happening all in the course of two months - from August to September 2019! As Singapore marks her momentous 700-year history this Bicentennial year, the festival will highlight four exciting events with a local twist that will be held separately at each quay – Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and Robertson Quay. From local food delights to performances by talented Singaporean musicians, SRF 2019 is dedicated to showcasing a range of Singapore-centric activities to pay homage to the cultural diversity and celebrate the heritage, people and places along the picturesque Singapore River.
“The Singapore River is more than just a landmark. It encompasses the rich history that carries with it the lifeline of the early generations of Singaporeans,” said Michelle Koh, Executive Director of Singapore River One. “As we observe Singapore’s diverse history this Bicentennial year, Singapore River Festival 2019 will also break away from the format of previous years, allowing visitors more time to fully explore each of the different quays and its unique offerings.”
Circular RAW Powered by Tiger at Boat Quay
SRF2019 kicks off in the first weekend of August with Circular RAW Powered by Tiger at Boat Quay – a street party extravaganza, organized in collaboration with official festival beer partner Tiger Beer. From 2 to 3 August 2019, event-goers can enjoy an opportunity to feast in the middle of Circular Road with a plethora of dining options available along the stretch. Accompany the wide variety of food with the spectacular National Day Parade fireworks display set off from the Belly of the Carp on 3 August. In addition, visitors can enjoy live tunes from local musicians, including HubbaBubbas and The Steve McQueens, as well as a DJ who will be spinning the beats to rev up the night.
STREAM @ Clarke Quay 2019
Introducing SRF 2019’s first-ever music festival, STREAM @ Clarke Quay 2019 will take place at Clarke Quay on the weekend of 16 to 17 August 2019. Festival-goers will be treated to performances by a line-up of popular local music artistes, such as Fariz Jabba and Yung Raja, showcasing a variety of genres from the likes of hip-hop and rap to funk and jazz. This free-for-entry festival serves as a great platform to appreciate and support local musicians who have been around or are just starting out in the music scene. Held at Clarke Quay’s iconic fountain square, the festival stage will feature a video created for the 2015 edition of SRF by Brandon Tay – a local new media artist whose work has been showcased at many of Singapore’s notable museums, including the National Museum of Singapore, The Singapore Art Museum and the National Gallery Singapore. Infused with elements of Singapore in the past, the visual artistry will be a blast to the past as viewers get an opportunity to reminisce Singapore in its historical glory. STREAM @ Clarke Quay 2019 will also boast exciting food line-ups from pop-up food kiosks from Chupitos Bar, Harry’s Bar, Get Juiced and Le Noir. Serving up locally-inspired festival foods including rendang pizza and Milo dinosaur shooters, fuel up with delicious eats accompanied by the exciting festival beats.
Mid-Autumn Festival at Robertson Quay
