The modern, white building that houses the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre stands amid towering shopping centers in the city’s prime business area. Bangkok’s Art and Culture Centre is seen an important achievement for the Thai artist network and art lovers, who pushed for an official art center to be established in the capital city that would welcome visitors from around the world to freely appreciate the beauty of Thai art.
The 9-storey building has a cylindrical shape with a spiral staircase around the inside of the building which allows continuous viewing of exhibitions. Besides exhibition rooms, there are also a public library, space for art workshops, multipurpose rooms and shops. Along the spiral staircase that winds all the way up to the top floor are exhibitions – rotated each month – of artwork such as photographs and paintings. Floors 7 to 9 are the highlights; they are the main galleries for art exhibitions and events by Thai and international artists.
